How many computers can connect to a Wireless router?

I have a Linksys wireless router with 2 pcs connected directed to the router and 2 laptops on wireless. I recently installed a wireless adapter on a 3rd pc but it's not picking up the signal. The router has 4 Ethernet ports - does that mean only 4 computers can be configured to that router?

No, it means only 4 computers can be directly connected to switched ports. Wireless access routers/points can normally handle up to a maximum of 20 wireless users, but the bandwidth is shared, so over 7 or 8 users you may see speeds decrease. As far as the wired ports, you could hang other switches or hubs off of those and increase the number of wired users you could handle. I have had 60 wired users on a linksys at one time without any real performance issues..

hey its not like this.as you have said that you have linksys wireless router that means you can connect 4 computers and as many wireless computers as you want.so it should work.you can connect 4 pc's and unlimited wireless laptops.

enjoy!
Most WiFi wireless access points / routers claim to support up to 255 connected devices. Access points and routers support a small number (usually either 1 or 4) of wired Ethernet and the rest via wireless connections.
From what it seems, you haven't either:
