Connecting 2 computers through their dial-up modems?

is it possible to connect 2 computers through their dial-up modems ?? using an Rj15 cable?

You need an RS-232 null modem cable and a cross-link adapter. Your local computer supply store, Fry's or even Radio Shack probably have them.



You use the serial ports of the 2 computers to connect them directly with the RS-232 cable. There is no way that I know of to use the dial-up modems directly. If you have 2 phone lines, you could dial into an ISP with them both and connect them that way, which is probably faster. The serial cable bandwidth is 19200 baud, with 50 feet or less of cable.

You can, you need a 'null modem' to do this. Check the web for null modem information. Just get a usb cable and connect the two computers together with that.

you can connect 2 PCs (w/ each other) using HYPERTERMINAL... you'll be connected to each other, do file sharing, but you won't have access to the internet
no i dont think u can. btw there is no rj15 cable. the phone is called rj11.
